L'heure

Telling time is  important where ever you go. Here is a summary of time telling in French.

  • To ask for the time you say "Quelle heure est-il?"
  • To say the time you say "Il est trois heures et demie."
  • If is it in the morning you add "du matin" at the end. For example, "Il est six heures du matin."
  • If it is afternoon you add "de l'après-midi".
  • If it is dark out,  you say "du soir".
  • Remember that one heure is "un heure" and two hours is "deux heures" Dont forget to make it plural!
